Plant Nursery Manager/Nursery Employee Job Description:

The Good Earth Works Co. & Nursery is a retail nursery dedicated to providing high-quality plants, gardening supplies, and expert advice to our customers. Our mission is to inspire and support gardeners of all levels by offering exceptional products and services.  We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Plant Nursery Manager/Nursery Employee.  The position will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the nursery and delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Daily Tasks:

  • Care for plants, including watering, pruning, fertilizing and pest management.
  • Assist customers with plant selection, gardening advice and product Recommendations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of nursery, including displays and inventory.
  • Process sales transactions and manage cash register.
  • Monitor plant health and report any issues to management.

Weekly Tasks:

  • Restock inventory and update plant labels/signage.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for plant orders and deliveries.
  • Prepare promotional materials for sales and events.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss goals and updates.

 

Monthly Tasks:

  • Plan and execute seasonal displays and promotions.
  • Organize workshops or events for customers (e.g. gardening classes).
  • Perform inventory checks and report stock levels to management.
  • Update the nursery’s website or social media with new arrivals and promotions.

Annual Tasks:

  • Prepare for peak seasons (spring and Fall) by ordering inventory and scheduling staff.
  • Assist with annual budget planning and sales forecasting.
  • Participate in community events to promote the nursery.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide training as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and pest management.
  • Strong customer service skills and communication skills.
  • Organizational skill and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management and sales processing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail nursery or garden center.
  • Certification in horticulture or related field.
  • Experience with social media marketing or event planning.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time or part-time positions available.
  • Weekend Availability required during peak seasons.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during special events.
